This week I have been having a blast tatting snowflakes with NiteLite and NiteLite ExtraGlow glow-in-the-dark thread. This is 40 and 30 wt polyester thread. The NiteLite glows the best, but is finer than a size 100 cordonnet thread. The ExtraGlow is thicker and is about the size of 100. It tats up nicely and is SO MUCH FUN to look at in the dark! Below are 2 pictures (larger than actual size) with Rozella Linden's snowflake 2006 pattern. The flake on the left is NiteLite ExtraGlow (about 1.75" across) and the one of the right is NiteLite (about 1.50" across).

That is so cool! Will you carry any of this stuff?
Hi Tara,
I now carry the thread on my website, http://www.ds9designs.com. The direct link to NiteLite is http://www.ds9designs.com/t_nitelite.html. The ExtraGlow (which is thicker but doesn't glow as bright!) comes in 6 colors: white, yellow, green, blue, lavender, and pink. All pastels. The pink glows pink in the dark; the rest glow flourescent green.
What a hoot! to tat, run in the bathroom, and come out giggling! Makes me giggle too.
~Heidi
Your snowflakes look awesome. While I haven't used this particular thread before, I have used a glow-in-the-dark embroidery floss from DMC to make snowflakes with good results. How did you photograph the finished glowing snowflakes? I've never been able to.
This IS really cool! I will have to check out your shop!
Hi Jeff, The pictures were taken with a digital camera on a tripod. I turned the flash off and snapped the shot. I then went to adobe photoshop and played with the contrast, so the thread actually showed up. Not too bad for someone who knows next to nothing about photography!
Merry Christmas Deb!
